I'm a student in NYS. How do I validate my digital library card?

Answer

The fastest way to validate a new online library card is to visit any NYPL location in the Bronx, Manhattan or Staten Island:
http://www.nypl.org/locations

If validating in person, you will need to show photo ID, proof of permanent home address, and proof of enrollment in a university, college, or school here in New York State.

Please see this page for accepted documentation to verify identity, proof of address, and student status:
https://www.nypl.org/help/library-card/terms-conditions#Eligibility

Proof of enrollment includes current student ID or recent bursar's statement.

Students who are unable to visit an NYPL location may validate by email.

  • Send an e-mail to patronaccounts@nypl.org from your New York State school's email address
  • In the Subject line type “Card Validation”
  • Include your NYPL card number
  • Attach proof of your permanent home address (wherever home may be)
