How can I get my PIN/Password?

I forgot my password. I don't know my PIN. I don't have an e-mail address.

Answer

To log into your NYPL library card account you need your username or library card number (the full number - no spaces or dashes between digits) and your password or PIN (Personal Identification Number). Normally, to get or reset your PIN/password you can go to this Web page - just follow the instructions and then check e-mail address you have on file with NYPL:
https://catalog.nypl.org/pinreset

If this form doesn’t work, or if an hour after resetting your PIN/password you're still unable to log in, then to get your PIN/password you can visit any NYPL location (https://www.nypl.org/locations) with your card and proof of identity, or you can chat with AskNYPL (Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.) https://www.nypl.org/get-help/contact-us/chat , or call 917-275-6975, Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

If calling or chatting, please have your card number or username available, and be prepared to answer a few questions to prove you're the card holder (e.g. name, home ZIP code, date of birth, etc.).
