I am trying to sign up for a library card, and I keep getting a message at the very end of the process, "Form submission error, Invalid request to ILS: PIN is not valid : PIN is trivial."

Answer

Please try completing the application again, keeping the following in mind:

Your PIN/Password must be between 8 and 32 characters long and can include upper or lower case characters (a-z, A-Z), numbers (0-9), and/or special characters limited to the following: ~ ! ? @ # $ % ^ & * ( )
A PIN/ Password must not contain common patterns, for example:
A character that is repeated 3 or more times (0001, aaaa, aaaatf54, x7gp3333)
A set of up to four characters repeated two or more times (1212, abab, abcabc, ababx7gp, x7gp3434)
PINs/ PASSWORDS must not contain a period.

If you cannot find another password that works, you can use this one: Nypl202!  Then after your application is complete, log into your online account (https://www.nypl.org/login) and change the password to a more secure one.
